Don’t worry, Resident Evil Requiem won’t have PC woes like Monster Hunter Wilds, says Capcom

Capcom is working to ensure Resident Evil Requiem will perform well on PC, following a multitude of technical issues this year with Monster Hunter Wilds.

The company has been heavily criticised for the performance of Monster Hunter Wilds, though it’s acknowledged those issues. A free update is due on 16th December, something players have been waiting the majority of the year for.

It seems Capcom has learned its lesson, though, and will ensure Resident Evil Requiem won’t suffer a similar fate.

“Resident Evil Requiem differs from Monster Hunter Wilds in terms of gameplay, system architecture, and network features,” said Capcom during a Q&A for its latest earnings report.

“At present, we do not anticipate similar risks. We are developing the game to provide a smooth gaming experience across a wide range of PC specifications.”

Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline game in the series, launches next year on 27th February. Not only will it be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, it’s coming to Switch 2 too along with Resident Evil Biohazard and Resident Evil Village on the same day.

As such, Capcom has an extra platform on its hands to optimise.

Resident Evil Requiem actually started life as an online multiplayer open-world game, it was recently reported, and it retains “some” elements of that concept.

“Looking at the game when it was multiplayer, the horror part was very mild,” said producer Masato Kumazawa. “However, in that build, we made a game that was fun to play. But we looked deeply into this game and wondered if a fan of the franchise would really like this, so we thought they […] probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much.”
