The next FIFA game will be exclusive to Netflix Games, and will arrive in time for next year’s FIFA World Cup 2026. It will be the first official FIFA game in four years.
Netflix subscribers will be able to access the game on their TV, using a phone as a controller, and play either solo or with others online.
The game will be developed and published by Delphi Interactive – a studio yet to actually release a game, though its website states it’s also working on 007 First Light with IO Interactive.
“The FIFA World Cup is going to be the cultural event of 2026, and now fans will be able to celebrate their fandom by bringing the game right into their living rooms,” said Alain Tascan, president of games at Netflix. “We want to bring football back to its roots with something everyone can play with just the touch of a button.”
Added FIFA president Gianni Infantino: “FIFA is very excited to team up with Netflix Games and Delphi Interactive ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026. This major collaboration is a key milestone in FIFA’s commitment to innovation in the football gaming space, which aspires to reach billions of football fans of all ages everywhere in the world and will be redefining the pure notion of simulation games. Our reimagined game truly marks the beginning of a new era of digital football. It will be available for free to Netflix members and is a great historic step for FIFA.”
Note that this World Cup game will be available on “select TVs in certain countries” (details on the Netflix site), but there are plans to roll it out further over time.
Back in 2022, EA ditched the FIFA brand after almost 30 years of officially licensed games. Since then, it’s continued with its own EA Sports FC series.
FIFA, by contrast, has floundered in attempting to maintain its brand within the games industry, with no new games since 2022. Back in October it announced the forthcoming mascot-focused game FIFA Heroes (see video above), and now this World Cup game with Netflix.
