2013’s Tomb Raider reboot coming to mobile devices next year

Hot off the heels of its Switch debut, 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot is now confirmed for another platform – mobile!

Next year, on 12th February, the first entry in the series’ Survivor trilogy will be available across iOS and Android. As well as the base game, this mobile release will also include Tomb Raider’s 12 DLC packs. These packs will provide users with extra upgrades, outfits and a bonus Challenge Tomb.

You can check out a trailer for Tomb Raider’s mobile debut below.

“When a young Lara Croft is shipwrecked on a forgotten island during her first archaeological expedition, her intense fight for survival soon becomes a perilous journey to unravel the island’s mysteries,” reads the official blurb. “Initially armed with nothing but her instincts, Lara must quickly learn how to overcome Yamatai’s devious traps and murderous inhabitants to escape its relentless hold.”

Tomb Raider has been “expertly optimised” for mobile devices, and also features a “fully customisable touchscreen interface”, which the developer Feral Interactive said will allow players to “mix puzzle-solving and intense combat with ease”. The release will also include gamepad and mouse and keyboard support.

If this all sounds up your street, iOS players can preorder now via the App Store, while Android players can pre-register on the Google Play Store. Tomb Raider is priced at £12.99 here in the UK or $19.99/€15.99.

For more, a few years ago I spoke with Tomb Raider 2013 writer Rhianna Pratchett about her time on the game.

Meanwhile, at last week’s The Game Awards, two new series entries were announced: Tomb Raider Catalyst, an all-new adventure from Crystal Dynamics and Amazon, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the first game.
