Developer 1047 Games has announced Splitgate 2’s current beta will come to an end next week. A relaunch for the game will then take place later in the month.
Splitgate 2 released earlier this year, but soon after its debut, the studio and its founder Ian Proulx admitted they had taken the game out of beta too soon. “We had ambitious goals with Splitgate 2, and in our excitement to share it with you, we bit off more than we could chew,” a statement in July read. As such, the shooter returned to beta, and layoffs were made at 1047 Games.

Now, four months down the line, the studio has plans to fully relaunch Splitgate 2 once again. “Thank you to everyone who participated in the Splitgate 2 Beta,” a post on the game’s Steam page begins, before adding:
“On December 4th, the Beta Season and active Battle Passes will be ending, alongside your seasonal ‘rank’ progress.”
While the studio did not provide a date, it said once the beta servers go offline on the 4th December, it will be preparing for the game’s relaunch “later” in the month.
“We’re excited to share more soon,” it closed. You can find more information on Splitgate 2’s final beta playtest here.
Splitgate 2 has not had a smooth run of things. Along with two rounds of layoffs at 1047 Games, Splitgate 2 was also lambasted by players when the developer released a cosmetic bundle priced $80 USD, supposedly discounted from $145. In response, the studio slashed it to $40 and reduced prices across the store, pledging to “double down on being community first and listening to you guys”.
Will this second go at things be the time Splitgate 2 makes FPS great again? We will see.
