Are you a little too good at Arc Raiders? The new solo vs squad mode might be for you

Embark Studios has announced a new game mode for Arc Raiders that should prove exciting for those of you out there who are a little too good at the extraction shooter.

Solo vs Squads allows bold raiders to queue up on their lonesome against full squads of three players. You have to be at least raider level 40 to do so, but the XP rewards for venturing into such a perilous playlist is a 20 percent XP boost at the end of the round.

In addition, a new project is coming to the game. The trophy display pushes players to hunt down progressively tougher groups of Arc to progress, and will be able to build increasingly fancy trophy cases to mark their progress.

There are also seven new quests, two new types of epic augments, and the Bird City map condition on Buried City. This condition will add more bird traps and ziplines to the map, as well as treasures hidden inside searchable chimneys.

This January update marks the first milestone established in the early 2026 roadmap released yesterday by Embark. In February, we’re set to get heaps of new stuff too, including the next expedition window, a new Arc threat, a new Raider Deck, and more. So it’s safe to say that Arc Raiders is keeping up the update momentum following its successful holiday period over December.

If you’re curious about Arc Raiders, you can read Eurogamer’s Arc Raiders review! In it, Rick Lane writes: “Rich PvE combat and an unusually friendly community make Arc Raiders a more approachable extraction shooter than most, but Embark Studios’ continued use of AI voice generation is a black mark against its reputation.”
