Marathon Twitch drops are beaten eaten up by full inventories, leaving the special loot deleted

Marathon has started sending out in-game Twitch sponsored kits to players who engaged in the streaming platform’s launch event for Bungie’s extraction shooter. But, there’s a problem. For those with a full vault, redeeming this reward in-game can lead to it being inadvertently deleted.

The way it’s meant to work is like this: through the in-game notification tab, you can redeem a special Twitch.tv sponsored kit to use in-game. When equipped, it provides a random gun and equipment you can use in a run. When redeemed, it’s automatically sent to your vault, a space where you keep all your earned equipment.

The problem is that unlike other rewards you can earn from contracts or faction rank rewards (which go to your vault overflow if collected when not enough room is present), these Twitch rewards don’t have that safeguard. So, if there’s no room in your vault and the overflow is unavailable, they are thrown directly into the void. Bad luck.

In a message posted to the official Marathon Discord server, the Marathon team wrote: “We have identified an issue where the Twitch Sponsored Kit acquired from a Twitch Drop can be inadvertently deleted if a player’s vault is completely full, instead of into the overflow. Please make sure that you have room in your vault before claiming the Twitch Sponsored Kit from your in-game mailbox.”

Thankfully, these drops don’t include any exclusive cosmetics that can be lost forever. The Twitch event did include some cosmetics, earned through watching Marathon streams while your Bungie account was linked with your Twitch account, though those are rewarded in-game without the need of a physical loot package.

Marathon has undergone a few rocky moments since launch. Following criticism, Bungie implemented a change adjusting how much in-game premium currency was provided in exchange for real money. A deluxe edition exploit was also present, allowing those who paid the extra amount to unlock all the cosmetic rewards in the launch reward pass in a matter of minutes.

Don’t let these distract you from the game’s finer points though. The community is currently hard at work solving an ARG, which should unlock the game’s fourth map: The Cryo Vault. Early impressions from the game are also very positive, with Eurogamer’s own Marathon preview following the Server Slam last month featuring glowing praise for the triple-A release.
