Pokémon Pokopia is good, isn’t it? Despite selling over 2.2m copies within a week of launch, and being so impressive that it’s even making Nintendo stock go up, there are a few issues with the game that are impeding everyone from having a great time with the title. Don’t worry, though, Nintendo has confirmed we will soon get an update that addresses a variety of bugs present in the launch version of the game.
Per a blog post from Nintendo, we know that the publisher is aware of a few things that are stopping players from clearly and easily making progress in the title (mostly derived from the way the game lets you do pretty much anything you want, which can result in you… blocking your own progress. Oops!)
Whilst the incoming patch won’t resolve all known bugs at the time of writing, it will address two of the most common progress-blocking ones – namely, it’ll help you out more if you replace broken blocks in front of key objectives in Bleak Beach or Wasteland Wilderness.
NB: please note, the original patch is in Japanese, and the below has been translated based on knowledge of the game and its early quests.
Known issues
- When requesting “Let’s build a home!” in “Wasteland Wilderness” Squirtle moves up a tree and cannot be spoken to, preventing the request from progressing.
- In the “Bleak Beach” request “Find a Pokémon Center!”, if you destroy the cracked blocks on the bridge before Professor Tangrowth crosses it, it will be difficult to progress with the request.
- When performing the “Find a Pokémon Center!” request in “Bleak Beach,” if you follow certain steps, the event to repair the bridge in the quest will not occur, and you will not be able to progress with the request.
- In “Rugged Mountain Town,” if you follow certain steps, the event where you encounter “Rotom” will no longer occur.
- When the request “Let’s clean up the roads!” in “Rugged Mountain Town” occurs under certain circumstances, it becomes difficult to progress with the request.
- The type of “Spinarak” in the Pokédex is incorrect.
Planned improvements
- In the “Wasteland Wilderness” request “Break the rocks with a Rock Smasher!”, if you place another block in the position of the cracked block near the “Onix”, it will be difficult to understand how to proceed.
- In the “Bleak Beach” request “Take the Professor with you!”, if you place another block in the position of the cracked block near “Snorlax”, it will be difficult to understand how to progress.
Future plans
- An update to correct the above will be released soon. Even if the problem has already occurred, applying this update will resolve it. We will continue to investigate any other issues not mentioned above.
So, no news of new content yet, then. Don’t fret, though; we know that events will come to the game over time, as we already have our first – and it comes in the form of Hoppip and the More Spores for Hoppip quest. No further events have been announced, but I’ll bet my last Pokédollar we’ll see one sooner, rather than later.
There is no news on when the incoming patch will go live, but Nintendo says it’s coming ‘soon’.
