High on Life 2’s Switch 2 release delayed “to better meet not only our high standards for gaming, but yours as well”

High on Life 2, the sequel to the crude and comedic FPS from Squanch Games, has had its Switch 2 release delayed by a couple of months.

High on Life 2 was initially set to release on Nintendo’s console next month, on 20th April. However, in order for Squanch Games to “[deliver] the highest quality experiences”, its Switch 2 release date has been moved back to 1st July.

“The additional elbow grease towards production will ultimately allow the studio to better meet not only our high standards for gaming, but yours as well,” the High on Life 2 team explained in a blog post announcing the delay.

As a result of this delay, Squanch Games has cancelled digital preorders for High on Life 2. However, those who preordered a physical version will still receive their copy, with “shipment expected in July”.

Closing, the developer said it appreciated the High on Life 2 community’s “patience and continued support” as it finalises the Switch 2 release.

While we were less than enamored with the original High on Life, we had better things to say about its sequel, which was released across Steam, Epic, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S earlier this year.

“I came away from High on Life 2 pleasantly surprised. Not mesmerised. Not blown away. But also not wishing I could charge Justin Roiland for 15 of the sorriest hours of my life,” reads Eurogamer’s High on Life 2 review. “High on Life 2 has grown up in mostly the right ways, while retaining enough of its goofball personality to be a good hang when it counts. Is it love? Not quite. But I wouldn’t kick it out of bed either.”
