Crimson Desert sells another 1m, as Pearl Abyss pledges more fixes to address launch day struggles

Crimson Desert has sold another 1m copies since Friday. This afternoon, Pearl Abyss announced its single player RPG spin-off from hit Korean MMO Black Desert had now surpassed 3m copies sold worldwide.

As a reminder, the studio previously celebrated passing the 2m sales milestone less than 24 hours after Crimson Desert’s launch last week.

“To everyone who has stepped into Pywel and shared this journey with us, thank you,” the team wrote as it celebrated its latest sales milestone.

Resharing the figure, Pearl Abyss’ PR and marketing director Will Powers thanked the community for an “amazing launch week”, and assured players the team would be working on fixing the various issues Crimson Desert has faced since release. “We’re continuing to make the game better with all of your feedback,” Powers wrote.

While Pearl Abyss seems, on the surface, happy with how things are going, it is fair to say Crimson Desert hasn’t had the smoothest of starts. Launch problems included the game refusing to start from the Xbox App on PC, and poor performance on a base PS5 model. Some, meanwhile, have found the controls for Crimson Desert especially troublesome, and asked for a refund as a result. There was a lot of love for the cats in the game, though.

Pearl Abyss released a hefty patch yesterday, taking aim at a vast variety of issues, bringing bug fixes and quality of life changes. This included, rather welcomingly, new keyboard shortcuts.
