SHELL DO NOT PUBLISH UNTIL XBOX PARTNER SHOWCASE
GSC Game World has announced new DLC for Stalker 2 at today’s Xbox Partner Showcase. Titled Cost of Hope, it’s a full expansion to the first person shooter set to release Summer 2026.
In this DLC, players will be playing Skif through events that occur alongside Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. You’ll be given in-game notifications via the PDA to access the DLC as the main storyline progresses, as such you may want to start a new save file ahead of the expansion’s release.
According to the official press release for the Cost of Hope expansion, it’ll contain “dozens of hours of gameplay”, so it should be a substantial addition to the already massive Stalker 2.
Cost of Hope will introduce two new regions to the game, new weapons and gear, new hubs, quests, and uncharted locations. The DLC will also let you explore Chornobyl’s Nuclear Power Plant, which is kind of a big deal for anyone that’s been immersed in this world and wondered what horrors await at the (in)famous landmark.
It looks as though 2026 might be as big as 2025 for Stalker 2: last year, developer GSC Game World released numerous significant updates – including major fixes for its troublesome A-Life system – alongside a version for PlayStation 5. Then there was another big update for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl late last year, in the form of the big, free Stories Untold DLC which landed on Tuesday, 16th December, 2025. GSC spoke to Eurogamer back in November 2025, discussing, among other things, the difficulties of continuing development amid the ongoing Russian invasion of the Ukraine.
If you’ve not played Stalker 2 yet, you can check out Eurogamer’s Stalker 2 review for an idea of what the game is like ahead of the DLC’s release!
