Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish kicks off the Xbox Partner Showcase, coming Summer 2027

Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish kicked off the Xbox Partner Showcase with a bang. A supernatural first person action RPG, it’ll be headed to Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5 in Summer 2027.

From Teyon, the same developers behind Robocop: Rogue City, this new action RPG is set within the same World of Darkness setting as Vampire the Masquerade, and according to a new Xbox Wire blog post, pulls from Baldur’s Gate 3 and the TV show ‘Supernatural.

Game director Piotr Łatocha revealed a bit more about the game in said Xbox Wire post, writing: “As the player, you discover that there is a second world you never knew about, that has monsters lurking in the shadows. Some situations in the story lead you to a point of no return, where you need to pick up the fight and become the hunter or be prey. If you’ve watched the old ‘Supernatural’ TV show, it’s kind of close to that fantasy as well.”

In terms of the connection to the Vampire the Masquerade games – both video and tabletop – Łatocha noted the following: “We definitely wanted to take an approach much closer to that of the original Bloodlines. So it’s the same world, based on the new 5th edition of Hunter: The Reckoning. It changed a bit because in the old [editions] they play characters who are “imbued” with special abilities. Whereas in 5th edition, there are some more general people who need to fight a stronger enemy, so they need to group into so-called cells. In our game, you belong to one of those cells.”

The game, like Robocop: Rogue City, will be first person. However, there will be main and side quests, exploration, romanceable options, a range of companions, and a semi-open world format. So if that sounds like your cup of tea, it’s best to hunker down and wait until next year!
