The idea of porting Crimson Desert over to Switch 2 is currently being discussed by Pearl Abyss, which while I am no tech expert, sounds pretty ambitious to me.
During a shareholders’ meeting, Pearl Abyss’ CEO Heo Jin-young chatted a bit about (potentially) releasing the studio’s ambitious RPG spin-off on Nintendo’s newest console. The CEO rightly noted that due to the Switch 2’s specs compared to higher-powered consoles like the PS5, compromises would need to be made for the port to actually happen.
But, even so, Pearl Abyss has started “R&D” – that’s research and development – “with interest” to see if a Crimson Desert Switch 2 port could eventually happen.

Here’s Heo Jin-young’s statement in full, as translated by NintendoEverything: “Compared to other consoles, the Switch still has lower specifications, so there are things we would have to give up. Internally, we have begun R&D with interest.”
Do, do you think Crimson Desert would be a good fit for Switch 2? It did reportedly struggle on the base PS5, so… Well, I guess we will perhaps find out some time in the future.
After a slightly rocky launch one week ago, the studio has been making a number of improvements to Crimson Desert, such as adding new keyboard shortcuts and Private Storage at Howling Hill Camp as part of a rather hefty patch. But, even with some niggles, the game has still proven popular, and earlier this week Pearl Abyss celebrated Crimson Desert passing the 3m sales milestone.
