The time and date for the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 has been set. This year, it’ll take place on Sunday, 7th June, at the respectable hour of 6pm UK time.
The global timings for the Xbox Showcase 2026 are as follows:
- PDT: June 7, 10am
- EDT: June 7, 1pm
- BST: June 7, 6pm
- CEST: June 7, 7pm
- JST: June 8, 2am
- AEST: June 8, 3am
As in previous years, the broadcast will be a double-header, with the first resembling a typical games showcase broadcast before transitioning to a deep-dive into one of Xbox’s big upcoming games. We’re promised “first gameplay looks and huge news on upcoming titles from our first-party studios across the Xbox family” in the former, according to Xbox News Wire, and an extended look at Gears of War: E-Day in the latter. This is the upcoming origin story Gears of War game, which is rumoured to be out later this year.
This year’s Xbox Games Showcase will probably attract more attention than in previous years owing to the drastic recent change of leadership at Microsoft’s Gaming Division, and a desire for people to see what new boss Asha Sharma’s vision actually is for Xbox. Presumably she will have had enough time by then to cement it. So far, she’s scrapped the ‘This is an Xbox’ campaign that has dominated previous summer showcase presentations.
Sharma has also made noises about pressing “reset” on Xbox and re-establishing it as a challenger console gaming brand, which will presumably in part be led by new hardware Project Helix, which will play PC and console games. Will we see more of that during the showcase? And what of existing initiatives like Game Pass and Play Anywhere – will they be reimagined or changed?
Gears of War: E-Day focuses on Emergence Day and the moment the burly Locust enemy erupted out of the ground and invaded – and lay waste to – the world. The game will try to recreate the original Gears of War tone and take place over four consecutive days, featuring core series protagonists Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago.
