Fallen Feathers developer reportedly dissolves core team after director’s exit

Soulslike action-RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers wasn’t a slam dunk with critics last year, but it enchanted a big enough audience and was a financial success as far as we know. The continuity of the IP might be in serious trouble, though.

Via SavePoint Gaming, we’ve learned producer and director Xia Siyuan departed the developer Leenzee before the Lunar New Year period. While the studio hasn’t openly confirmed the situation, multiple sources (backed by Chinese gaming site Gamersky) are stating the rumours are true.

Under normal circumstances, Xia Siyuan’s departure shouldn’t have affected further work on Wuchang, yet it’s reported that Leenzee’s devs were told to shift to outsourcing or “support work tied to other projects.” Most of the staff declined to pivot, which led to the game’s core development team dissolving.

This would explain why the game hasn’t been updated since 20th November, 2025, and why Leenzee has been so quiet despite the apparent success of the new IP. At the time of writing, it’s unclear if story expansions, smaller pieces of DLC, or quicker patches were/are in the works, but as you can imagine, Wuchang’s future looks a lot less stable right now than it did at launch.

The silver lining here is that Xia Siyuan has reportedly formed a new studio and isn’t planning to leave the games industry. More details haven’t been disclosed at the time of writing. Eurogamer’s 3-star review of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers stated that, while too familiar, its “dazzling landmarks, more frantic combat, and inspired dying are fun novelties.”
