Crimson Desert dev thanks you for your patience as it takes a little extra time to “test and polish” its next big patch

Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss has warned it will be “tak[ing its] time as it preps the “larger” upcoming update, thanking players in advance for their patience.

Up until now, Pearl Abyss has been working double-time to crank out updates pretty much every week, with around nine full and hotfix updates issued since the RPG launched on 19th March.

However, while you’d have been forgiven for expecting the patch Pearl Abyss detailed last week to roll out this weekend as usual, the team did pop up on social media yesterday to let players know there’ll be a delay while it “takes its time” testing and polishing.

“We’re currently preparing our next update, which will include several features mentioned in last week’s Dev Update notice, including the addition of a keyboard/mouse and controller preset, difficulty settings, category tabs for your inventory, and more,” the brief statement began.

“We want to take our time with testing and polishing things before we roll the patch out, which we expect to do sometime next week. Also, due to the distant scenery quality improvements we are adding in, this patch size will be larger than our previous ones. We hope you’re looking forward to this update, and thanks for your patience and support!”

As you’ll see from the statement, there’s been no firm date on when the new features will roll out, but we’ll keep you posted.

This new update will introduce some huge features, such as the ability to replay boss fights, new difficulty levels, respawning enemy outposts, and new outfits.

Crimson Desert had a divisive but financially successful launch. In Eurogamer’s Crimson Desert review, we wrote that the game constantly oscillates “between whoop-inducing bombast and utter brain-smoothing banality”. Though substantial official patches have been arriving in quick succession, modders are also hard at work, even giving PC players the option to create their own female characters.
