Here’s our first clear look at Link’s full outfit in the live-action Legend of Zelda film

Now that The Legend of Zelda live-action movie adaptation has wrapped filming in New Zealand, crew members are starting to share little details from its production, including a clapper board which gives us a look at Link’s outfit.

The upcoming adaptation’s director of photography, Gyula Pados, reportedly shared an Instagram post featuring the clapper used during filming. On this clapper was concept art of Link in his traditional green tunic seen in earlier games, such as Ocarina of Time. The Hylian hero also has his pointy cap perched atop his head, and is holding the Master Sword to one side. A shield – perhaps the series’ Hylian Shield – is strapped to his back.

Nintendo previously shared images of actors Bo Bragason as the titular Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, however these did not show the characters’ outfits in full. Evan Ainsworth’s Link was notably capless, and did not hold the Zelda series’ iconic sword. So, will part of the film’s story include Link journeying to find the blade hidden somewhere within Hyrule?

Link’s green tunic in both these earlier photos and now the artwork on the film’s clapper make me wonder if the studios will be incorporating more from earlier games in the series, such as Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess. The more recent entries – Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom – both primarily featured blue tunics for Link.

However, as well as the above clapper, we also have a look at the official logo for the upcoming Legend of Zelda film, thanks to a member of the stunt department, who shared a picture on their social media. And, along with the the series’ sword cutting down through the Z in Zelda, we can also see a flower blooming to one side of the letter. This silhouette, to me, looks like the Silent Princess flower from more recent games.

The Silent Princess is a relatively rare blue and white flower in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and is often associated with Zelda herself. Many believe the flower to be symbolic of the princess’ struggle and growth, so will her story in the film be more in-keeping with these games?

Hopefully, we won’t have too much longer to wait before we get some further information on the upcoming Legend of Zelda film, which is due to release on 7th May, 2027. It will then stream on Netflix after its theatrical run.

As for the games, Nintendo reportedly has plans to release a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch 2 some time around the festive season. Apparently, Ocarina of Time’s reported remake will fill the gap of a new 3D Mario game.
