Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero expansion DLC revealed, set for summer 2026

Dragon Ball fans are eating well today, especially after the announcement of a third entry in the Xenoverse series that’s set to arrive next year. But what about Sparking! Zero, the impressive 2024 arena fighter that acted as a spiritual successor of sorts to the Tenkaichi series?

Well, it hasn’t stopped receiving small content drops, but publisher Bandai Namco and developer Spike Chunsoft have just announced a far more substantial content drop is coming this summer in the shape of Super Limit Breaking NEO, which feels like a mouthful when added to the base game’s title. Watch the first trailer for the big DLC here:

Over 30 additional fighters are joining the roster after fans demanded more variety instead of a deluge of Vegeta versions. The newcomers include Super 17, Bardock (Super Saiyan), Champa, and Vegeta (GT), among others, “with several characters making their Budokai Tenkaichi series debut for the first time.” Even General Blue and Mighty Mask are showing up!

Extra customisation is at the centre of the refreshed experience too, with “more than 20 new options” letting players tinker with costumes and skills to create unique battle styles or “recreate iconic Dragon Ball scenes” straight from the shows and movies. It all should play well with four new stages, including Kami’s Palace and the pink Kame House.

Super Limit Breaking NEO also appears to be directly addressing the complaints about a lack of more PvE modes by adding the new Limit Breaker Journey mode, where all players can “progress through branching scenarios, fights, and events, train characters through battle, earn unique rewards, and carry growth into online play.” As many fighter series have slowly stepped away from meaty solo offerings, it’s good to see a developer (other than NetherRealm) pay attention to single-player grind enjoyers.

Last but not least, the free update set to arrive alongside this paid DLC will rework the battle system to make it faster and more brutal, with allies coming in with assists through “Chain Blasts” and the “Sparking! Boost” bar adding a new layer of buffs to your attacks. More details should be coming soon, but it’s safe to say most players will appreciate having more combat tools to play with.

If Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 and Sparking! Zero Super Limit Breaking NEO weren’t enough excitement for one day, Bandai Namco also dropped trailers for Xenoverse 2’s final DLC as well as the new Goku SS4 version for FighterZ.
