PowerWash Simulator 2 didn’t exactly reinvent the original game’s formula, but sometimes more of the same in a slightly fancier package is all you really need. Now, following this month’s Adventure Time DLC, cleaners are being sent to a galaxy far, far away…
Yes, Lucasfilm Games and FuturLab have teamed up to remove the filth from iconic Star Wars locales like the Rebels’ Echo Base on Hoth or the Lars Homestead on Tatooine – though maybe (hopefully?) Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru’s charred corpses won’t be around. Check out the brief teaser trailer below:
For now, the new levels’ unique features and full layouts are being saved, but we can infer that at least one Imperial star destroyer and one Rebel (perhaps Mon Calamari) cruiser need a good washing, too. Will astromechs be running around? Are we the post-war clean-up crew? We know as much as you do at this point, but I’ll admit a Star Wars-themed PowerWash Simulator DLC is a solid idea now that it’s a real thing in front of my eyes. I would’ve never predicted it, though.
As Lucasfilm Games’ output of Star Wars games ramps up — this year alone we’re expecting both Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Zero Company — so are collaborations with established games like PowerWash Simulator 2 or Fortnite. It’s been a profitable model, and with so many Star Wars projects running into problems, it’s a notable way to keep the IP moving, especially when Disney and Lucasfilm have new movies, like The Mandalorian and Grogu, coming up.
Eurogamer’s four-star review of PowerWash Simulator 2 called it “mostly more of the same” but “charmingly ludicrous” and “blissfully engaging”. It’s currently available on PC (via Steam, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store), PS5 (with Pro support), Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
