It looks like The Super Mario Galaxy Movie‘s home theatre debut may be coming a little later than first reported.
Though the movie had been expected to launch on digital and VOD platforms tomorrow, 5th May, When to Stream has now updated its original release schedule, pushing this back a couple of weeks to 19th May.
While it would be lovely to think Nintendo did this because that just-so-happens to be a milestone wedding anniversary for me, it turns out When to Stream‘s sources – usually pretty reliable – may have been a little optimistic.
As before, this date hasn’t been formally confirmed by Universal or Nintendo and even solid dates are subject to change, but we’ll keep you updated as best we can.
Last week, in celebration of the new movie – and over a decade after its original release – Nintendo casually added a brand new chapter to Rosalina’s storybook. The Epilogue, as this chapter is known, can be read once the Final Chapter is available in the story book – all you have to do is clear any of the game’s galaxies and earn yourself a power star.
Donlan had mixed thoughts on the movie, awarding it a middling 2/5 stars, writing: “Weird as this sounds, I think The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has the same basic problems as Love Story, Hulu’s glancing exploration of the doomed romance between Carolyn Bessett and JFK Jr. Both film and TV show have a handful of decent performances and a thrillingly bright eye for visual detailing. But both suffer from the fact that, for most of the running time, there’s actually very little at stake.”
