If you are part of the Venn diagram overlap of people who love both the nightmare-inducing ghosts of Phasmophobia and the surreal world of troubled author Alan Wake, then good news because a three-week collaboration between the two horror series begins today, 12th May.
It takes place in Phasmophobia – it’s called Phasmophobia by Alan Wake – and it will see locations from Alan’s second outing (Alan Wake 2) recreated in Phasmophobia alongside new character skins, community challenges “and more”.
The four Phasmophobia maps reimagined for this collaboration are Nell’s Diner, the Grafton and Bleasdale Farmhouses (a personal favourite) and Camp Woodwind. As players explore these reworked settings, they’ll be tasked with searching pages of Alan’s writing which, judging from experience, will probably end badly. These pages have been written especially for Phasmophobia by Remedy’s own Sam Lake, who called it an “honour and a joy” to work with Kinetic Games.
“Our two franchises complement each other perfectly,” Lake said in a press release. “A word of caution to all the potential ghost hunters out there, if you choose to enter, you might never be able to leave the Dark Place. You have been warned.”
Kinetic Games’ CEO Daniel Knight added: “We’re big fans of the Alan Wake franchise, and knew it would fit perfectly with Phasmophobia. We can’t wait for our ghost hunters to jump in today and experience a small piece of the Dark Place in our game, and we can’t thank Remedy Entertainment enough for allowing us to create one of the most exciting in-game events for Phasmophobia yet.”
This free Phasmaphobia update is available now across Steam, PS5, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S. It will run for three weeks, until 2nd June.
