Pokémon Pokopia Adds Mythical Pokémon Event, as Fans Believe Shiny and Costume Creatures May Follow

Pokémon Pokopia has announced a new in-game event where players can encounter the Mythical creature Jirachi, with much more seemingly on the horizon.

The smash hit Switch 2 life simulation game will receive its next event on June 23, running from 5am local time for two weeks, until July 8. Named as “Wish Upon a Jirachi”, the event will see players meeting another Mythical creature — and, of course, unlocking some snazzy new furniture.

Mechanically, the event looks set to operate as others have previously. Jirachi will pop up at completed Pokémon Centers and exchange the event’s currency for exclusive décor, which all sounds very familiar.

As spotted by Serebii, artwork posted by retailers for the recently-announced $34.99 Pokémon Pokopia expansion pass features additional Pokémon species not currently available in the base game, plus existing creatures (like Peakychu) now wearing new costume accessories.

Your Ditto main character can already customize their look, though the suggestion here is that other species will soon be able to don fairy wings or a bowtie if you so choose. Fans have also noted the existance of familiar-looking sparkles in that image — which look a lot like the Pokémon franchise’s icon used to denote Shiny Pokémon. There are no Shiny Pokémon available in Pokopia as yet, though that may all be about to change.

More details on the Pokopia expansion pass will be announced in the future, Nintendo has said, ahead of its forthcoming content drops that begin this summer and will continue into 2027.

In the meantime, there’s Jirachi to look forward to. Or alternatively, if you want to get a head start on that event right now, IGN has a guide on how to time travel in Pokémon Pokopia. Happy hunting!
