Here’s a pretty rare one: Eurogamer is hiring, and we’re after a best-in-class News Editor to help lead the site’s reporting in a new era. You can read the job posting in full here.
It really isn’t very often we open up a senior job role like this, but it feels like the right time to do so. News and original reporting has long been the backbone of Eurogamer’s output, from eyecatching reports on the inside story of Lionhead and the massive scoop on Nintendo’s NX before it was revealed as the Switch, to the crucial daily stories that keep our lovely readers in the know and move the gaming conversation forward. This is your chance to make a similar mark.
We’re looking for someone who has genuine experience in both editing video game news and contributing original, agenda-setting reporting on a regular basis. That could be regular beat reporting on major gaming communities, unearthing weird stories from gaming’s dustier corners, landing big scoops, or telling the in-depth inside stories behind the medium’s biggest moments.
Crucially, you’ll also need to be able to help nurture and develop talent to do just that as well, all while maintaining Eurogamer’s reputation for quality, authoritative, entertaining, and comprehensive news coverage across the gaming landscape.
The successful applicant will help to shape Eurogamer’s news output going forward, guiding our small-but-mighty news team while contributing coverage of their own. There’ll also be chances for other kinds of coverage – previews, reviews, features and especially interviews – though news will absolutely be the focus. We’re after a newshound who lives and breathes reporting.
If you’re interested – or think you might know someone – here’s that link again to the full job posting, and do note you’ll need to be based in the UK for this one. If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you. Good luck!
