Best Buy has announced that it’s giving away free “$50 reward certificates” for anyone bundling a Grand Theft Auto 6 preorder with an eligible PlayStation 5 or Xbox console.
To be eligible for the promo, buyers are required to have a “My Best Buy” membership. New and existing members are eligible for the deal. My Best Buy is free to join, but it also has two separate premium tiers (Plus or Total) with their own benefits. These cost $29.99 or $199.99 per year, respectively.
Technically, it’s not an official GTA 6 console bundle; the game and hardware are purchased separately, but the promotion still effectively rewards anyone planning to upgrade their console ahead of what will likely be the biggest game release of all time.
The savings aren’t instant, however. Best Buy says eligible customers will receive their $50 promotional certificate in their My Best Buy account around November 25, 2026, meaning you’ll need to wait several months before cashing in the bonus credit.
Free $50 Best Buy Gift Card When Buying GTA 6 + Eligible Console
The best option for those who currently don’t own a PS5 or Xbox Series X is likely going to be the “Geek Squad Certified Refurbished” PS5. That’s down to $499.99 at the moment at Best Buy, $50 off its standard list price. Plus, with the $50 Gift Card, you’re looking at a total cost of $450.
Quick reminder that this is the standard PS5, 825GB console, that originally released in 2020 – not the 1TB slim version from recent years. There’s also the PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X or S, and PS5 Slim (Disc or Digital) consoles included in the promotion, so really you can take your pick.
But, let’s not forget you need to purchase GTA 6 as well to secure the $50 gift certificate.
The good news is that Best Buy doesn’t charge for preorders until the game ships, meaning you can pick up your new console today, and won’t have to pay the $80 for GTA 6 until much closer to launch.
If you’re already planning to buy both, that will likely make the upgrade feel a bit little easier on the wallet by spreading the cost over a longer period.
Also, note that GTA 6’s “physical” edition is just a code in a box, and will arrive on November 12, a week early, in order to allow for pre-loading the game. There isn’t a disc included, so don’t panic when it turns up without on.
But Is It Worth It?
With Grand Theft Auto 6 launching exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles at release, this offer provides a useful incentive for anyone still gaming on older hardware.
While the savings aren’t immediate, anyone already planning to purchase both a console and Grand Theft Auto 6 can treat this as a free $50 credit toward a future game, accessory, controller, or storage upgrade.
