As England Prepares For Its World Cup Semi-Final, David Beckham Announces He’s Joining Fortnite

England footballing legend David Beckham will soon be available to buy in Fortnite.

Beckham announced the collaboration himself today via a post on his Instagram, apparently showing him working on designs for his Fortnite skin. “Working on my new Fortnite character,” Becks captioned the post. “Available very soon.”

A closer look at Fortnite’s plans suggest that the game will introduce two separate Beckham skins, allowing you to play as the former England captain wearing his iconic number 7 shirt, or alternatively wearing a suit and tie — as fans will have seen him in the stands watching games at this World Cup.

A brief video attached the post seems to show this suited version of Beckham in action, as the real-life superstar peers into a mirror.

Of course, the timing of Beckham joining Fortnite comes just as England seek to continue their World Cup campaign against Argentina in tomorrow’s semi-final. It would be nice if England is still in the World Cup by the time Beckham’s skin releases — which now won’t be until at least Thursday, when the game’s next patch arrives.

Beckham will join the many real-life athletes, popstars, actors and icons in Fortnite already, with everyone from Lady Gaga to Darth Vader included. Other sporting heroes already represented in Fortnite including England’s current captain Harry Kane, as well as his Argentine rival Lional Messi. Here’s hoping tomorrow isn’t an actual deathmatch.
