Fallout, the blockbuster Bethesda Game Studios RPG and hit Prime Video show, is now also a pinball game, courtesy of Stern Pinball. The Pro Edition, Premium Edition, and Limited Edition are available now for $7,299 (Pro), $10,699 (Premium), and $13,999 (Limited). The decked-out Limited Edition is capped at 770 games globally as a nod to Fallout’s Great War of 2077.
Three characters are available: Lucy MacLean, The Ghoul, or Maximus. An on-table Pip-Boy provides game mode information and features and can be used in-game to hack computer terminals. The playfield also includes other classic Fallout features like Vault Boy, Power Armor, Nuka-Cola, Pip-Boy, and Vault suits. Meanwhile, Stern notes, “The Fat Man multi-axis pinball launcher with Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S), a combat mechanic inspired by the video game, launches balls to an upper playfield target gallery. The Nuka-Cola Bottle Cap spinner exhibits first-of-its-kind mechanical up and down movement, while the ‘Mutated’ inverted upper flipper delivers mechanical innovation not seen in pinball since before the Great War. Additional features include the Mechanical Vault Blast Door that opens and allows players to explore underground unknowns, a Deathclaw bash toy with kickback and taunt features, and a Vault lower playfield powered by “Magna-Flip” magnetic technology, that provides dynamic kinetic action and excitement.”
Players can level up their S.P.E.C.I.A.L. to level 10, after which exclusive new game modes for each of the three characters get unlocked. And players are able to carry progress over from game to game using Stern’s Insider Connected platform. Stern also says that to “further [celebrate] the iconic IP, the machines seamlessly incorporate footage from throughout seasons 1 and 2 of the TV series and content pulled directly from the Fallout video game series, along with custom callouts from renowned actor Johnny Pemberton, who plays Thaddeus.”
We thought the Fallout TV show’s second season finale was great, and apparently enough viewers agreed, because Amazon renewed the show for a third season, in which Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul will join the cast, as will Star Wars and The Good Place actor Manny Jacinto. So far, the only other thing we know is that season 3 will take place in a new location.
