AdHoc Studio, the team behind Disptach, helped develop Until Dawn 2.
In a new PlayStation Blog post, Until Dawn 2 developer Firesprite confirmed that AdHoc helped craft the story of the new horror game. As a result, the team promises a much richer experience with tough choices that impact the branching narrative.
“We’ve partnered with our friends at AdHoc Studio – the brilliant minds behind the acclaimed Dispatch – so you can expect a deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, tough decisions, and yes… more than a few gruesome deaths,” reads the post. “Every choice, every interaction can ripple with dramatic consequences.”
AdHoc has been around for nearly a decade, but only released its first game last year. The team is largely comprised of ex-Telltale, Ubisoft, and Night School Studio talent, which has allowed them to use their narrative expertise for new titles like Dispatch. The 2025 superhero game was a refreshing experience take on a tried and true genre with nuanced relationships, hilarious and compelling writing, and meaningful choices.
Given AdHoc only rose to prominence last year, it’s unclear when they were brought on to Until Dawn 2. They could’ve been a late addition to punch up the game following the success of Dispatch, or Firesprite could’ve recognized their potential early on and brought them in a couple of years ago. Either way, it’s great to see the AdHoc team being utilized on a franchise that means so much to horror fans.
Firesprite also announced that Until Dawn 2 will release on PS5 this January, which is sooner than some would’ve anticipated. The game was announced earlier this summer and will feature returning characters, such as the mysterious Dr. Hill, from the first game.
