Rare Sets Back in Stock for Labor Day — Best Deals at Amazon and TCGplayer

Labor Day sales aren’t always the most exciting, but you can still find some genuinely decent offers if you know where to look. For example, Amazon has a dedicated sale right now and has even recently restocked some fairly rare Pokémon TCG sets.

Now that’s what I’m most interested in, as that includes not only Prismatic Evolution Super Premium Collections, but also Destined Rivals Elite Trainer Boxes. 30th Anniversary First Partner Series 3 sets, Pitch Black Booster Boxes, and a whole lot more close to or below market price.

I’ll leave some links to the best finds just below, and then we can discuss why each of these is worth picking up ASAP.

Let’s start with the biggest and best finds from this Labor Day restock. Pokémon TCG’s First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3 is part of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations. This release marks the final chapter in the First Partner Illustration TCG Collection.

Series 1 took us back to the classic roots with Kanto (Gen 1), Sinnoh (Gen 4), and Alola (Gen 7). Series 2 took us back to the Johto (Gen 2), Unova (Gen 5), and Galar (Gen 8) regions. Series 3 officially rounds out the whole collection, bringing us the beloved first partner Pokémon from the Hoenn, Kalos, and Paldea regions.

Pokémon TCG: First Partner Illustration Collection—Series 3

Listed median prices for these is $34 at TCGplayer, which is bang on what Amazon is listing it for as well. Average market price is around $30-$35 (not including delivery), so Amazon is probably your best bet for these, especially if you’re picking up two or three, and even more so if you’re an Amazon Prime member with free speedy delivery.

Same as the other two series, inside each box, you’ll score:

  • 1 Pokémon TCG Pack: Contains 3 of 9 illustration rare-style promo cards featuring the First Partner Pokémon from Gen 3 (Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip), Gen 6 (Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie), and Gen 9 (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly).
  • 2 Pokémon TCG Booster Packs (pulled from Pitch Black and Chaos Rising).
  • 1 Exclusive Sticker Sheet featuring the Collection’s starter crew.

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection

Next up let’s go from affordable to super premium, with the Scarlet & Violet—Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection, now available and in stock at Amazon for $274.99.

Listed median price for these is around $310, according to TCGplayer, so at $274.99, you’re getting a fairly good price (albeit still well above MSRP). Market price is a little lower, however, at $257.54, so you could bag yourself a better deal if you order on the resale market at TCGplayer or eBay.

But, that’s not accounting for delivery, so keep that in mind as well. Amazon is a great option if you’ve perhaps got some credit or gift cards save up, or you’re just looking for the security of buying new and guaranteed sealed rather than through a third party. Either way, the choice is yours!

The Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection includes:

  • 1 full-art foil promo card featuring Eevee ex.
  • A fuzzy Eevee deck box.
  • A playmat featuring Eevee and its Evolutions.
  • 65 card sleeves featuring Eevee and its Evolutions.
  • 15 Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Prismatic Evolutions booster packs.

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Destined Rivals Elite Trainer Box

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet – Destined Rivals Elite Trainer Box

Last up before I fall into honorable mentions, is the Destined Rivals Elite Trainer Box. This is available for just under $125, and I can’t remember the last time one of these bag boys was available at market rate from a major retailer. Yes, it’s well above MSRP, but that’s the state of things these days. If you’re happy to pay the premium, this is the best place to pick up the ETB right now.

Listed medium is around $150 at TCGplayer, with a market price of $120.18. Factoring in delivery, and Amazon is a clear winner on this one. I’d snap up a couple of these ASAP while you can still easily pick them up.

Other notable restocks include Pitch Black Booster Display Sets for $187.23 (under market price vs. TCGplayer), and Ascended Heroes Mega Meganium/Emboar/Feraligatr ex Boxes for $67.19 (randomly selected, and a little over market rate).

But is it worth it? Only you can be the judge of that. The “market price” is often dictated by what the majority of people are willing to pay, but only you can decide if this if truely worth your money.

No matter how unfortunate it is, and how hard it is to find Pokémon TCG at MSRP, market value is often the price you have to pay now, even from big retailers like Amazon, as I mentioned.

To see all the recently restocked items at Amazon, be sure to check out our custom search tracker to ensure you’re buying sealed boosters that are only “sold and shipped” directly from Amazon itself.
