If you’ve always wanted to see Street Fighter characters decked out in McDonald’s-inspired skins, today’s your lucky day

Capcom and McDonald’s have teamed up to introduce a number of Street Fighter-themed burgers and exclusive skins in Japan.

The promotion includes a limited-edition menu of “Street Burgers” inspired by Capcom’s fighting franchise, including the Teriyaki x Ryu Scorched Garlic Mayonnaise Egg Teriyaki burger, Chick Fillet-O x Chun-Li Yakitori Mayonnaise Chicken burger, and Cheeseburger x Ken Torichi burger, all of which can be washed down with a McFizz drink served in a limited-edition collab cup.

Not impressed? Allow me to present the TV ads.

As undeniably fabulous as the retro, burger-themed video spots are – not least for the sneaky appearance of Manon and Marisa in the background – a number of exclusive skins are also on the way.

There’s very little information about them other than the blaze of red, yellow, and white costumes you can see displayed on ResetEra – Guile’s trousers alone require a full video essay – but Famitsu does confirm that “the free distribution of original colour costumes to commemorate the collaboration in the latest title” – exclusive skins, in other words – are planned for Street Fighter 6.

The colour palette aside, some fans are unhappy that Capcom has limited this promotion to Japan, mourning not only the unavailability of the limited-time food menu, but the exclusive skins, too.

“Regional exclusives always suck. Hope they find a way to bring them worldwide,” said one unhappy fan, while another commented: “This should be a world wide promo.”

Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama recently shared his surprise at Capcom’s decision to charge for the game’s upcoming esports tournament finals and has apologised “for any concern this may have caused”.

At Tokyo Game Show earlier this month, Capcom revealed the finals for its Tokyo-based Capcom Cup and Street Fighter League 2025 World Championship would be viewable globally online only via a pay-per-view model, when usually fans can watch for free across YouTube and Twitch. The finals for both the Capcom Cup 12 Finals and SFL World Championship will cost ¥4,000 each (around £20), or a bundle of both is available for ¥6,000 (around £30). The earlier qualifying rounds remain free.
