Battlefield 6 drops a new “relaxed” way to earn XP “without the intensity of a full PvP lobby”

Battlefield 6 has introduced a new “relaxed way” to play “while still earning progression and completing challenges” – Casual Breakthrough.

Giving you the chance to get into the action “without the intensity of a full PvP lobby”, Casual Breakthrough is now live under the Multiplayer tab on the main menu.

While you won’t be able to secure dogtags and accolades, or career stat updates, you’ll be able to play in smaller teams on either the Siege of Cairo or Empire State maps.

Crucially, you’ll clock up full XP from “real player actions”, and reduced XP for any actions with a bot.

Here’s what you can expect from Casual Breakthrough:

  • Smaller player teams: 16 real players (8 per team) with 32 bot teammates/enemies (16 per team)
  • Progression: Earn Career XP, Weapon XP, Battle Pass XP, and complete Challenges
  • Balanced XP: Full XP from real player actions, reduced XP from bot actions
  • Maps: The initial maps available in this mode are Siege of Cairo and Empire State.

“Let us know what you think of the new mode,” the development team said. “We’ll be monitoring your feedback to determine if further adjustments are needed in the future. We’ll see you there on the Battlefield!”

Season One of Battlefield 6 is now live, along with the shadow-dropped battle royale mode, Redsec. It marks the first major update for Battlefield 6, following a series of smaller bug fixes and balance adjustments. The game has proven exceptionally popular, selling over seven million copies in less than a week and quickly breaking series records.

The Battlefield 6 community is on the hunt for Easter eggs, with one persistent player managing to clip inside a hidden room attached to the in-game shooting range.
