Amazon Just Dropped These Magic Precons to $40 or Less In Brand New Sale

Magic: The Gathering’s next set, Edge of Eternities, arrives tomorrow with a whole host of cards players are after, and not only does Amazon still have both of the Commander decks available at MSRP, but the retailer has discounted some others.

From one of my personal favorites to some classic Universes Beyond offerings, here are some of the options we’ve found discounted right now.

Before we start, it’s worth noting that most of the decks on this list have little in the way of reprint value (some are a year or two old at this point). If you’re new to Commander, these decks will give you a great way to get started, but don’t expect all-powerful precons here.

With that caveat explained, here are some of my favourites on sale right now.

Final Fantasy: Revival Trance

The most recently released entry on this list, Revival Trance, was our least-favorite Final Fantasy Commander Deck, but at just over 20% off, it’s ideal for Collectors.

And, with a few upgrades, it could even become a force to be reckoned with.

Duskmourn House of Horror: Jump Scare!

One of my favorite precons in recent months, it’s Jump Scare! This deck is all about playing cards face down with the Manifest Dread mechanic, then flipping them over to cheat out some big beasts.

Considering there are cards like Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait and Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle, there are some real heavy-hitters you can rely on.

Fallout: Science!

Fallout’s Commander Decks were all pretty great, but now you can nab one with a third off the MSRP.

Science! (don’t forget that exclamation mark) is an energy-based deck that uses Artifacts to generate additional resources that Dr. Madison Li can turn into card draw or reanimation. It’s perhaps not the easiest to use for newbies, but still well worth a look.

Doctor Who: Blast from the Past

This precon is from the Doctor Who set, and is helmed by The Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith as his companion, but actually includes EIGHT of the Doctors from the legendary TV series.

At just $35, we expect Blast from the Past to sell quickly, so Who fans should get moving.

Duskmourn House of Horror: Death Toll

Death Toll is all about reanimation, which fit the Duskmourn House of Horror theming nicely back in 2024, and it’s a fun deck to pilot for newcomers and experienced players alike.

It’s also under $40, making it pretty affordable for anyone looking to get started.

Modern Horizons: Tricky Terrain

Sure, it’s still $50, but it’s reduced from $70, so Tricky Terrain is worthy of inclusion. It’s a really unique deck that turns your land and creatures into all types.

It takes a little rewiring of your brain to work out how best to take advantage of that ability, but you essentially get the benefit of every kind of typal synergy going.

Murders at Karlov Manor: Deep Clue Sea

Taken from the Murders at Karlov Manor set, Deep Clue Sea is under $40 and focuses on the Clue mechanic.

It uses those to create card advantage, while also being a fun deck in its own right. And, unlike some on this list, there are some great reprints like Bennie Bracks, Zoologist and Koma, Cosmos Serpent.

Aetherdrift: Living Energy

Living Energy has been below MSRP for some time, but we’re including it here as another energy-based precon that’s nice and affordable at under $30 for anyone new to the format.

Saheeli, Radiant Creator has some incredible art, and works to build up energy to create copies of cards. In fact, there’s some crossover with the Fallout deck above, if you want to try splicing them together.

Starter Decks

Finally, there are a series of Starter Commander Decks that Wizards offered a couple of years back. They’re great for getting started, but some of the prices ballooned pretty quickly, notably for Draconic Destruction.

That’s still the case, sadly, but you can get First Flight and Token Triumph for just over $25 right now at least.
