As Witcher 3 DLC rumours swirl, CD Projekt Red wants you to know that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be getting any more ‘secret’ content

Unless you’ve been living under a roc (pun intended), you’ll know that there’s a pretty hefty rumour going around about The Witcher 3 and some potential new DLC for the game, said to be releasing some 11 years after the game’s initial launch.

For now, these rumours remain just that: rumours. But something is clearly afoot at CD PRojekt Red, because the Polish studio has responded to a fan on social media who asked if the game is going to get “secret new DLC” (assumedly inspired by these Witcher 3 rumours, or so you’d think).

The answer probably won’t surprise you. “We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions,” the developer notes. “If anything changes, we will inform you all!” Boo.

Chances are, then, that the developer is hard at work on Cyberpunk 2, hence the decision to slow down updates on the original, controversial 2020 RPG. So far, all we know about the sequel is that it is in pre-production, and Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith would love to see Keanu Reeves return as Johnny Silverhand in the game. He’s even figured out “ways” to make it happen, apparently.

Pondsmith has also claimed Cyberpunk 2 will feature a second city – in addition to Night City – that’s like “Chicago gone wrong” (and there are little nods to this at the end of Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, Phantom Liberty, too).

But, if you want more Cyberpunk content in your life, it looks like you’re going to have to wait for the sequel – whenever it launches. These new comments pour water on the idea we might get some shadow-dropped Cyberpunk 2077 update any time soon. We’re just going to have to wait for whatever Witcher-flavoured possibilites happen this year, aren’t we? Good news, then, that the cinematic animator from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 developer, Sandfall Interactive, has joined CDPR.
