Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sold 3 million in its first week

After its big 2m sales opening, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has reached a new sales milestone: Ubisoft announced that the remake has sold over 3m units in a week across all platforms.

The figure was shared on the official Assassin’s Creed X account and elsewhere, alongside a message thanking players for their support, and officially announcing that a New Game Plus mode is in the works. New Game Plus was initially revealed in a recent interview with the game’s director, who called it a natural addition, but it’s nice to see a wider announcement nonetheless.

Even before it officially launched, Black Flag Resynced had been predicted to outperform Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Steam. Before Black Flag Resynced, Shadows was Ubisoft’s best-selling game on Valve’s platform.

On July 9, those predictions came true, with a strong opening of 2m units sold across all platforms, and a peak concurrent of 104,756 (via SteamDB) on Steam alone. Given this momentum, Black Flag Resynced could end up being the best-selling game in the series.

The launch hasn’t been without controversy, however. The excessive – though standard in Ubisoft games – amount of launch-day microtransactions and cosmetic skins has soured many players on the launch. The game was review bombed on Steam for a while, before the overall rating recovered in the days since. Black Flag Resynced was also briefly unplayable on PC, thanks to a Ubisoft Connect outage, which shouldn’t have happened given that the game is advertised as being playable offline.

As for what the next remake in the series could be, reports suggest Ubisoft is working on a Resynced version of the original Assassin’s Creed. Although that’s yet to be officially announced, let alone given a release date, a late-2027 launch to coincide with the series’ 20th anniversary would make a lot of sense.
