Can you believe that Atomfall – Rebellion’s pseudo-apocalyptic survival game, set in the rather splendid ol’ chap that is 1950s rural England – is on the brink of its first birthday? It really doesn’t seem that long ago Ian was telling me about his escapades bopping baddies over the head with a cricket bat as they weed against a wall.
Now, to mark the game’s upcoming first anniversary, the Atomfall team has released a few player stats from the last 12 months, highlighting, among other things, our penchant for a Cornish pasty or two.

Plenty of these Atomafall stats focus more on the combat side of life, or as is often the case here, death. Rebellion has, for example, revealed there’ve been an astounding 42.3 million player deaths inside Atomfall’s slice of Northern England, and most of these were down to its BARD robots. These chaps have caused 15 percent of all player deaths in Atomfall thus far, impacting 6.3 million gamers (Rebellion did the maths, not me, I don’t understand numbers). As for weapons, the bow and arrow has proved the most deadly, with 25.5m kills to its name.
But, me, I’m a simple girl, and while all this bloodshed makes for compelling reading, I’m more interested in our in-game eating habits – in the last 12 months, Atomfall players have munched their way through over 16.8m Cornish pasties, along with 2.2m slices of cake. No updates on how many cups of tea we’ve all drunk, though. Also, is it just me, or is anyone else feeling quite peckish right now?
Atomfall was Rebellion’s “most successful launch” ever on its release last year, and soon after its debut, the studio celebrated 1.5m players joining in the oh-so-British fun.
If you haven’t played Atomfall for yourself yet, but are curious about it all, you can check out our review. “If you can get over a difficult start and fancy a lean take on the survival genre, Atomfall delivers an intriguing tale worth discovering,” Tom Orry wrote, awarding it three Eurogamer stars.
