Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 European sales are 63% down on Battlefield 6, and 50% down on Black Ops 6

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has had a disappointing launch in Europe, with sales reportedly down 63 percent compared to Battlefield 6‘s bumper debut week.

We already knew something was up when Activision’s own response felt a little more muted than previous years, but according to estimates from The Game Business and data from GSD, sales are also down by “more than” 50 percent when compared to its predecessor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Of course, Black Ops 7 is available for no extra charge on Xbox and PC Game Pass for those subscribing to the pricier Ultimate tier, which will undoubtedly skew sales figures. Nonetheless, with an ‘Overwhelming Dislike’ verdict on Metacriticmaking it the most unpopular Call of Duty game ever by Metacritic user score – the data will be grim reading for Microsoft and Activision.

All that said, according to GSD’s data, that hasn’t stopped Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 from being Europe’s biggest-selling game this week, both by unit sales and revenue.

“If you can accept Black Ops 7’s fundamental changes to the formula on their own terms, you’ll have a good trip, despite the psychochemicals coursing through your veins,” we said in Eurogamer’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 review, awarding it 3/5 stars. “I’m just not convinced those changes bode well for the health of the series.”

The latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 patch has brought a handful of fixes for the sci-fi FPS, including substantial adjustments to various camo challenges that have been proving troublesome for the cosmetically-minded player base. This includes a few weapon camos in Zombies, which were three times harder to unlock than intended.
