Death Stranding 2 details new PC and PS5 features with stunning launch trailer as Steam build leaks ahead of launch

In a month full of hot new releases, it’s easy to forget about long-awaited ports, but Death Stranding 2‘s PC launch is happening tomorrow, 19th March, and its latest trailer packs a punch and highlights a number of unique features. Moreover, the original PS5 version is getting some love too.

It’s not just about extra graphical options, as Kojima Productions (as usual) has used this opportunity to add more content and updates to the sequel. Before we get into all the fresh details, you can watch the launch trailer below and learn about its system requirements too:

The spoiler-y video does a good job of recapping the biggest additions coming with the PC release, yet we highly recommend reading through the PlayStation Blog’s features article.

Those “seeking the ultimate gameplay challenge” after clearing the game under normal circumstances can get a much more violent experience with the “to the wilder” mode. It presents “merciless environments filled with deadly enemies” which make completing orders far more dangerous. It’s a punishing journey, but the developers are betting on the resulting “sense of satisfaction” that diehards will appreciate.

Sam can also gain “new fieldware” such as bandanas through the “Trapped in a Strange Realm” VR-training area. On top of that, a “Chiral Feline” will be visiting him aboard the DHV Magellan, also allowing players to take photos of the weird creature with the improved Photo Mode.

These content additions will drop on PS5 at the same time, but PC players can exclusively look forward to DLSS, FSR, and XeSS upscaling integration in line with the original’s. This time around, frame generation is also part of the deal as well as “super-ultrawide (32:9)” support which joins the more common 21:9 support. DualSense controllers will get all the features from the PS5 version, too. It comes as no surprise famous porting studio Nixxes has, once again, gone all-out with this PC release.

As an extra, we’ve also learned the port has leaked and is already pirated due to a misstep while updating the game files on Steam in preparation for the launch. Unencrypted files (of the full game) were made available by mistake, and some users downloaded them before things went back to normal. Oops!

Eurogamer’s review of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach described it as “both more and less radical” than the original. After a short wait, PC-only players will now have the opportunity to chime in while pushing the game’s already stunning visual presentation further.
