Little Nightmares studio’s new horror Reanimal gets console demo and February release date

Tarsier, the studio behind the much-loved Little Nightmares 1 & 2, has announced a 13th February release date for its brand-new horror adventure Reanimal. And if you need a little something to keep the impatience for its arrival at bay, a demo is available now on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

Announced last August, Reanimal (which is also coming to PC and Switch 2) tells the story of an orphaned brother and sister trapped in hellish version of the island that used to be their home. The duo must journey across the violent world to find their friends, with Tarsier promising an adventure “darker and grittier” in tone compared to its previous spooky kids in scary places games.

It’s a story that’ll play out both on foot and across the water as the siblings traverse a fragmented world, and it’s even possible to break away from the main narrative to explore smaller areas in a non-linear fashion. But the big addition is local and online co-op play alongside single-player – a first for Tarsier, although developer Supermassive Games’ recently released (and fairly disappointing) Little Nightmares 3 did manage to get there first.

Console players curious to sample Reanimal’s horrors can do so from today via a Xbox Series X/S demo and PlayStation 5 demo. A Steam version has been available for a while. Reanimal’s full release is scheduled for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Switch 2, and PC on 13th February next year. Expect the standard edition to cost £34.99, while the Digital Deluxe edition – which includes access to three chapters of post-launch DLC – costs £49.99.
