Minecraft Gets Tiny Takeover Release Date as Mojang Digs Up Sulfur Blocks for Chaos Cubed Update Later This Year

Mojang Studios has unveiled more information about updates coming to Minecraft in 2026, including the release date for Tiny Takeover and a sneak peek at the Chaos Cubed game drop.

The Minecraft Live March 2026 presentation served as the backdrop for all of the developer’s latest announcements today. Alongside glimpses at how it will expand the wider Minecraft universe, the show also came with more information about how players can expect the base experience to change in the coming months.

Tiny Takeover

It all starts with Tiny Takeover, which is now set to launch with a March 24 release date. Players were previously told to expect new and improved versions of existing baby mobs, but today’s livestream showed off more from the adorable revision taking over the Overworld.

While tiny versions of mobs have existed for years, Tiny Takeover gives almost every critter a makeover with new looks, fresh sound effects, and even the option to keep a mob as a baby forever, thanks to an item called the Golden Dandelion. Farm mobs, such as pigs, cows, cats, and chickens, will also now spawn with what Mojang describes as “unique sound personalities.” Players will be able to spawn baby mobs using spawn eggs, too, with craftable name tags and the new trumpet sound effect also included in the update.

Almost every baby mob has been touched up, with the full list including new models for dozens of creatures. As shared by Mojang, you can see a list of mobs benefiting from the update below:

o Baby farm mobs: puppies, kittens, piglets, calves, chicks, lambs, ocelots, and bunnies

o Baby mounts: donkeys, mules, and every horse variant

o Aquatic baby mobs: axolotls, dolphins, squids, and turtles

o Hostile and scary baby mobs: zombies, zombified piglins, hoglins, zoglins, zombie villagers, husks, gurgles, piglins, and striders

o Baby villagers: all seven variants

o Wild baby mobs: foxes, polar bears, pandas, bees, llamas, armadillos, goats, and snifflets

Chaos Cubed

The Tiny Takeover section of Minecraft Live pulled back the curtain on features fans were told to expect earlier this month. Chaos Cubed, however, is an all-new update that will arrive at an unannounced point later in 2026.

Where the March game drop focuses on mobs, Chaos Cubed aims to change how players look at the world around them. Part of this includes the new sulfur cube, which changes properties by absorbing materials. The extent of the new block’s abilities has yet to be revealed, but Mojang teases that it will be able to alter its abilities by absorbing surrounding materials. Players will also be able to feed the sulfur cube.

The sulfur cube can be found in the new, aptly named sulfur cave, which has been added to the Overworld’s pool of existing cave layouts. These yellow and red, toxic areas come with sulfur pools and other new blocks, with the former featuring gas particles that can trigger a noxious effect.

Mojang is changing Minecraft one block at a time as it attempts to keep longtime players coming back with new mobs to meet and caves to uncover.
