Mobile Resident Evil release passes “outstanding” download milestone just 10 days after debut

Resident Evil Survival Unit – the mobile strategy game based on Capcom’s Resi series – has passed 2m downloads in just 10 days.

In a press release, co-developers Aniplex Inc and Joycity Corporation stated the game had “achieved outstanding global results” since its debut on 18th November.

To mark this milestone, the studios are now offering Resident Evil Survival Unit players a “special in-game reward”. To claim, players will need to enter the code ‘2m Survivors’ into the promo code redemption site.

The Resi spin-off has been created in close collaboration with the main series’ developer Capcom. As for what it is all about, Resident Evil Survival Unit kicks off with the protagonist in a “mysterious” hospital, having been used as an Umbrella test subject. “As you uncover the truth and attempt to escape, the story unfolds into a parallel world where original characters from the original series return,” the official blurb teases, promising a “chilling new narrative”.

Series regulars such as Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong and Claire Redfield all pop up for the mobile release.

To compare this figure with other mainline Resident Evil mobile releases, back in 2024, it was said that sales of Resident Evil 7 on iOS had flopped, having been bought by under 2000 people. However, the free-to-start game had been downloaded 83,000 times in 10 days.

As for what’s next, Resident Evil Requiem is set to debut across consoles and PC next year, on 27th February.

Earlier this month, Capcom assured its Resi fans the team is working to ensure Resident Evil Requiem will perform well on PC, after a multitude of technical issues this year with Monster Hunter Wilds.
