Nintendo Switch 2 owners will soon be able to get their hands on award-winning indie game, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The game, which initially made its debut in 2021 on PlayStation and PC before arriving on Xbox in 2024, is slated for a Nintendo debut this spring.
This Switch 2 version will be “feature-complete”, developer Ember Lab has said, and include the Anniversary DLC and New Game Plus mode. This means it will have Charmstones, Spirit Guide Trials, outfits for Kena and accessibility features.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring Kena’s journey to a whole new audience, giving players the chance to experience her story at home or on the go with Nintendo Switch 2,” said Ember Lab exec Josh Grier.
“As our studio’s debut title, the overwhelming support and love the game has received over the years has truly meant a great deal to our team. We’re beyond thrilled that even more players will now be able to fully immerse themselves in Kena’s world and become part of her journey.”

If you are unsure if Kena: Bridge of Spirits is for you, we described the game as “a gorgeous yet unoriginal adventure” in our original review.
“Kena: Bridge of Spirits very much has first game syndrome – something with all the right ideas, weakened by their execution. If it does well – and given the fever with which it’s been followed leading up to its release, I expect it will – it’ll be because we often value AAA looks and mechanics more highly than attempts at innovation,” Malindy wrote. “I’m sure with this foundation Ember Lab has a great game in it, but this isn’t it just yet.”
Which brings me nicely to the series’ future, and its sequel known as Kena: Scars of Kosmora, which was announced earlier this year. This time around, Kena is seeking answers to her lifelong affliction, and it’s a journey that’ll take her to the mysterious island of Kosmora, said to be “full of buried secrets from a tragic past”. Can Kena: Scars of Kosmora realise the potential the first game showed? We will see.
