Pokémon Pokopia has only just released, but players are already starting to figure out Minecraft-like automatic builds and logic gates

Pokémon Pokopia is all about restoring a world that’s, quite frankly, in shambles after a mysterious cataclysm. However, since Ditto and their pals have all the time in the world, some players are choosing to rebuild old Minecraft tech in a different setting, and the first results are promising.

r/Pokopia is starting to heat up following the game’s first weekend out in the wild, and it comes as no surprise players with enough free time on their hands are carefully exploring what can and can’t be done inside the massive sandbox. Redstone ain’t a thing in the game, but electricity is, so keep an eye on what happens when more players reach that point of the journey. Regardless, folks like nin10Donuts may have cracked the start of a tech ‘arms’ race in Pokopia with far less:

An “automatic lava waterfall” might not seem very useful, but as far as first experiments go, it’s impressive stuff. How does it work? Laser blocks. “The opening and closing of windows triggers lasers. Same idea with doors and gates swinging open. Eventually the floodgates are triggered letting the lava out,” the user explained. Even nin10Donuts isn’t sure of what they’re accomplishing with the build, but the full explanation signals they’re indeed cooking.

Taking things a step further, in a different post (see below), nin10Donuts explored AND logic gates after some suggested the idea after seeing the lava waterfall. With water, doors, and a sprinkler, something cool can happen. “It begins,” one user said as everyone started joking a new era in crafting games might be starting following these early discoveries. “!RemindMe 1 year,” another poster added.

We’ve all been here before, so allow me to say “we’re so back” as I wait for inevitable basic computer builds by engineers… as long as they don’t run into hardware limitations. After all, the Switch 2 isn’t a beefy PC. In any case, this game has the juice.
