Switch finally surpasses the Nintendo DS to become company’s best-selling console, ever

The Nintendo Switch has surpassed the DS to become the company’s best selling console ever.

As shared in Nintendo’s latest financial report, which covers the first nine months of FY2026 up until 31st December 2025, the Switch has now sold 155.37m units. To compare, the company’s previous best selling console – the Nintendo DS – has clocked up 154.02m units sold as of 31st December 2025.

3.25m Switch units were sold during the nine-month period covered in Nintendo’s latest financial report, which began on 1st April 2025.

Nintendo’s Switch console is now the second best selling console of all time, only behind that of the PlayStation 2. Back in 2024, Sony confirmed its PS2 console – which first released back in March 2000 – had shifted 160m units since its millennium launch.
