The final Final Fantasy 7 remake game Revelation may not actually be the end of the story, leaked DLC listings suggest

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is set to finish the story that started all the way back in 2020 with the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake. But that ending may not be as definitive as you might have expected.

Recently, an Epic Games Store database leak (via EpicDB) revealed a whole host of add-ons the game is set to receive, alongside different versions it will launch with. Square Enix has not officially announced any of that, but the listings are descriptive enough to generate a lot of speculation.

The one that has people talking the most is the Story Expansion Pass, which implies the game’s story will extend beyond its main campaign. A pass also indicates there’s going to be multiple expansions.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been the only game in the trilogy so far to receive substantial story DLC post launch. The game’s arrival on current-gen consoles and PC came with the Intergrade expansion, which focused on Yuffie. It won’t entirely be outside the realm of possibility for Revelation to receive a similar add-on (or add-ons), potentially to explore unresolved plotlines or as a Mass Effect 3 Citadel-style send-off for the crew.

The page also lists nine DLC packs, but it’s worth keeping in mind that a DLC in this instance could simply be a cosmetic skin or some sort of minor bonus. Indeed, the existence of a Digital Contents Pack indicates we may be getting a cosmetics pack of some description.

As for the story expansions, the list doesn’t mention how many there could be, which makes sense, as those are likely to arrive well after the game’s release, and likely won’t be showing up on databases for a while. Unsurprisingly, there appears to be a pre-order bonus and two non-standard editions: Premium and Premium Plus.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation was unveiled earlier in June as part of Summer Game Fest. The game does not yet have a release date but it’s set to arrive in the spring of 2027. This will be the first entry in the trilogy to launch simultaneously across all platforms – PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2.

Despite the multiplatform release, game director Naoki Hamaguchi promised that the game will not “compromise on graphics whatsoever” to meet the needs of the less powerful platforms.
