Turns out Game Freak’s “relatively small” internal team is supported by “several dozen” development partners for Beast of Reincarnation

Game Freak has shed a little more light on the “relatively small” internal team working on its upcoming release, Beast of Reincarnation.

In Beast of Reincarnation, players take the role of Emma the Sealer, who along with her canine companion Koo will need to confront the source of the world’s corruption to save humanity.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that while Game Freak – which is also known for its work on the Pokémon series – is developing Beast of Reincarnation, it has enlisted the help of other studios to support its work. “We’re lucky to have a lot of people working on it externally as well,” the developer said in January.

Now, following the debut of the game’s latest trailer (see further down in this article), I was able to ask game director Kota Furushima a few questions about Game Freak’s upcoming release, and I enquired further into how the Beast of Reincarnation team is divided.

“The creative direction and project management are led by the staff at Game Freak,” Furushima explained to Eurogamer. “However, since our internal team is relatively small, we work with trusted external partners on specific parts of the project needed to realise the concept.”

The director added how “fortunate” Game Freak was to have the “support of several dozen reliable development partners” working on Beast of Reincarnation. “Game Freak handles the creative direction, technical problem-solving, production leadership, and overall project management to ensure everything stays on track,” Furushima closed.

Beast of Reincarnation is set to release on 4th August. You can read more from my chat with Furushima here: Though Beast of Reincarnation is all about “loneliness”, Game Freak doesn’t want it to be sad: enter “warmth”, “reliability” and your dog pal.
