Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, the upcoming action-soulslike sequel from Team Ninja (Nier, Ninja Gaiden), will be released on March 4, 2027 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S (including day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate), and Nintendo Switch 2. Meanwhile, a free playable alpha demo is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The demo will only be active for a limited time, from now through September 30.
Team Ninja says that the demo includes an in-progress character creator to try out as well as online multiplayer for up to three players. “Fans can explore the open field of Changban, join forces with Liu Bei’s army in fierce battles against the pursuing forces of Cao Cao, and encounter demons inspired by legendary Chinese classics,” the developer said. In addition, anyone who plays and completes the demo will unlock the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet cosmetic item for use in the full game.
The original Wo Long was released in early 2023 and our resident soulslike superfan Mitchell Saltzman thought it was great, saying, “When it comes to the clashing of melee weapons, Wo Long is among the best in the genre, full stop.” We also had it at #6 in our list of top-10 soulslikes published later in 2023.
Wo Long 2 was announced at this year’s Xbox Showcase.
