Code Vein 2 developer promises fixes for frame rate and performance woes following “feedback”

Bandai Namco has pledged a range of fixes for its Soulslike sequel Code Vein 2, including frame rate and performance improvements, following “feedback”.

Code Vein 2 launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox series X/S, and PC late last month, sending players on a post-apocalyptic adventure through time in a bid to thwart an impending disaster. Its reception was mixed, but one consistent criticism focused its wonky performance.

And now Bandai Namco has acknowledged these complaints in a message on social media, saying the Code Vein 2 team is “committed to improving the game for a better experience” and will be making a number of “major adjustments” in response to player feedback.

Top of the list is stability, with Bandai Namco promising improved frame rates during combat (with boss battles said to be a priority), a reduction in stuttering and lag during field exploration, and more general adjustments to reduce temporary frame rate drops during play. It’s also looking to improve frame rates when using “Prioritise Action” mode on consoles.

Additionally, players can expect a range of “action balance” adjustments intended to, among other things, enhance the responsiveness of Evasion and Guarding, and to improve “game feel” relating to controls and feedback for certain player attacks. That’s alongside changes to enemy behaviour, plus broader adjustments and bug fixes. Oh, and customisation fans are getting bangs as a new ‘front hair’ accessory too.

There’s no news on when these updates will arrive, but Bandai Namco says it plans to release them over the course of “multiple patches”.

For what it’s worth, as a series newcomer and Soulslike fan, I quite enjoyed my time with Code Vein 2 when I took it for a whirl last month, even if that erratic performance wasn’t exactly easy on the eyes.
