Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake release date leaks

The release date for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake seems to have leaked, and the game is reportedly setting sail this summer.

According to Insider Gaming, which cites a presentation it has seen, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced will release 9th July. Ubisoft apparently wanted to reveal the Black Flag remake yesterday but decided to wait until next week instead.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag has apparently been “completely reworked with a bunch of new content and updates”, according to Insider Gaming and the alleged leaked presentation. Furthermore, Black Flag Resynced is apparently not a role-playing game, despite previous rumours it would be. “This remains a solo adventure and character-driven experience,” the presentation is quoted as stating.

If the announcement is planned for next week, we won’t have long to wait for official confirmation. Ubisoft has not responded to our request for comment.

The road (or perhaps current) to the unveiling of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced has been a turbulent one, eventually making it one of gaming’s worst kept secrets. Back in August of last year, voice actor Matt Ryan – who portrayed protagonist Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag – claimed legal action was brought against him by Ubisoft after hinting at its existence during a convention. However, rumours of a remake were circulating long before that.

We then had a rather suspicious reuploading of the Black Flag sea shanties on YouTube, though the developer did try and pass this off as “technical issues”. Meanwhile, images of a supposed Edward Kenway figurine, supposedly made to coincide with Ubisoft’s remake, started doing the rounds online. A PEGI age-rating for Black Flag Resynced was then spotted in December.

Finally, months later, in March this year, Ubisoft made the remake official, sharing artwork of Kenway posing mastward accompanied by the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced logo.
