Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is reportedly taking France by storm, beating out Resident Evil; Requiem in launch physical sales

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream appears to be doing exceptionally well in France, with the game snatching the crown for best selling physical game in the country from Resident Evil: Requiem.

According to French journalist Oscar Lemaire, who previously claimed Resident Evil: Requiem launched to 70,000 physical copies sold in the region, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream surpassed Capcom’s horror hit. This would mean, if his prior reporting is accurate, Tomodachi Life had an even better release than that.

Now obviously, there are caveats here. Resident Evil: Requiem may prove to have a longer tail than Tomodachi Life – the 70,000 figure was taken from the launch of Resident Evil: Requiem, a game which may have continued to shoot off store shelves in the following weeks.

Then, there’s the fact these are tracking solely physical copies sold. The difference in popularity between physical and digital games varies per genre (multiplayer shooters can reach roughly 90 percent digital sales, for example), but it’s no secret digital is taking up a larger portion of the market year-by-year.

And then of course, France is not the world. It could absolutely be possible that Mii’s are just hella popular on the streets of Nice. Still, even with all these in mind, these stats point to an impressive launch for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.

For a better idea of how Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is doing, we’ll have to hunker down and wait for more countries’ sales data to come out, or for official word from Nintendo. Until then, adieu.
