Physical copies of Metroid Ravenous for Nintendo Switch 2 are now $10 off at Walmart, following the discounts provided to other recent Nintendo preorders such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. That brings the game down to $59.88, over $10 off the original MSRP of $69.99.

Preorders for Metroid Ravenous went live not long after its standout trailer during the recent Nintendo Direct. There’s been plenty of excitement since, and we’ve even seen preorders for the Metroid Ravenous Special Edition completely sell out in minutes across most retailers since the reveal.
But $10 off the standard edition of the game isn’t a bad consolation prize if you were unable to secure a preorder for the special edition.
Yet, what’s the deal with the immediate $10 discount at Walmart? Well, it’s actually fairly simple. As is Nintendo’s custom for this console generation, the MSRP for the game is $59.99 for digital copies and $69.99 for physical copies.
We’ve seen the same thing with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Fox, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and Switch Sports Resort, among others. It’s a pretty easy way to save $10 if you’re planning to buy a physical copy anyway.
Amazon has always price matched the deal every single time, so you can also preorder there as well.
The only thing to bear in mind is that these discounts are generally tied to the preorder period. Once Metroid Ravenous actually releases, I wouldn’t expect this $59.88 price to stick around.
At least there’s no compromise with the physical release itself, either. Metroid Ravenous comes with the full game on the cartridge, so there’s no game key card nonsense to deal with here.

But, there are a couple of other Metroid games to check out in the sale as well. That includes Metroid Prime Remastered for $27.97, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for $41.99.
What Is Metroid Ravenous?
Metroid Ravenous is set to launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027.
A follow-up to Metroid Dread, it’s a new 2D side-scrolling adventure for Samus, the space-faring bounty hunter.
In the trailer, Samus says, “I was attacked by unknown assailants and sustained grave injuries. I don’t know where I am, getting back to the surface won’t be easy.”
“My chances of getting off this moon are slim at best. Still… I will survive. And I will make it home. Even if I have to feed on my enemies to do so. It’s eat or be eaten.”
This very much looks like Metroid Dread 2, with Samus look just as brutal and animalistic as she was at the end of the last game. I’m fully on board for this.
