Street Fighter is coming to Apex Legends on September 22, bringing its high-kicking action to the first-person battle royale with special skins, a decked-out POI, a Wildcard Takeover, and more.
This collaboration hurricane-kicks its way into the Outlands on Tuesday, September 22 at 10am PT / 1pm ET. We’ve outlined everything you can expect from Apex Legends’ Street Fighter makeover below.
Skins, Mythic Cosmetics, Emotes & More
Players will have the chance to nab eight Iconic Skins in the Reward Shop that transform their Legends into characters from Capcom’s beloved fighting game franchise, as well as one Epic Skin for Lifeline as Li-Fen, Chun-Li’s protege in Street Fighter 6’s World Tour story mode. We’ve included a list of all these characters below, as well as comments about the skins from Apex Legends’ art director, Alisa Rastorgueva, from a closed session with the media:
● Sparrow as Ryu: “We’re really thinking about personality, playstyle, silhouette when matching our Apex Legends with their Street Fighter counterparts. Sparrow felt the closest to Ryu’s grisly self in Street Fighter 6 specifically, and we really wanted to push the muscle definition for this skin.”
● Alter as Chun-Li: “We wanted to make sure Alter could do Chun-Li justice. We pushed the silhouettes of these models and bodies.”
● Bangalore as Elena: “
● Mirage as Luke: “Luke is Street Fighter 6’s breakout character, so we really wanted to feature him. Mirage felt like an obvious match in terms of personality, since they never take themselves seriously.”
● Gibraltar as Akuma: “This was definitely a fun skin for Gibby. His size and silhouette gave us a good canvas to bring that to life.”
● Wattson as Cammy: “They really complement each other. How Wattson operates matches well with Cammy’s fighting style.”
● Caustic as Blanka: “Blanka is big, unpredictable, and terrifying. One detail we are really proud of here are Caustic’s canisters: As you can see here, they feature electric eels that we hope fans catch and appreciate.”
● Pathfinder as Dhalsim: “Figuring out how to put Dahlsim’s design on a robot was definitely a challenge.”
Eight new Legendary Street Fighter 6-themed weapon skins are also available in the Reward Shop:

Other goodies include two new Skydive Emotes (one of them is a Tatsumaki), Holosprays, stickers (these include all characters in Street Fighter 6’s base roster), badges, trackers, and frames.
To really get players into the Street Fighter spirit, the devs at Respawn have lovingly prepared a new Hadouken Universal Melee cosmetic that includes a matching Deathbox. This allows players to literally throw out a Hadouken projectile in the middle of battle; just don’t fall prey to the Dark Hadou!
Remixed Olympus POI
Olympus is getting a Street Fighter makeover; the entire area has been decked out in bright colors, graffiti, giant Blanka-chan balloons, and even silver statues of the eight characters featured as skins in this collaboration. Punch Trucks are scattered throughout the POI, which players can beat up using melee attacks to earn Fight Gauge tokens in traditional Street Fighter fashion.
That’s not all; Pathfinder’s Fight Night has been transformed into Luke’s Gym, featuring arcade cabinets, Street Fighter 6-branded punching bags, a weight rack, and of course, Luke’s signature blue and orange colors. There’s even a massive screen surrounding the entire area featuring Ryu and Chun-Li facing off, which will loom over the match in its entirety.
“Remixing Olympus for this takeover was all about immersing players in fighting game culture, world director Eduardo Agostini said. “Building off what we learned on maps like Night City E-District, we wanted Olympus to feel like a living Street Fighter stage. For the Street Fighter 6 collaboration especially, we kept thinking of how we could inject that high-energy arcade feel directly into the map. …We’re really excited for players to explore every corner of this map and feel the energy that the team poured into it.”
Wildcard Takeover Explained
The Apex Legends x Street Fighter collab also features a Wildcard Takeover that transforms the first-person shooter into an all-out brawl. Rather than firing bullets at other players, you’ll use your Street Fighter skills to punch and kick your opponents. For this mode, the devs at Respawn cleaned up the game’s melee to let players perform fluid combos, which will fill your Fighter Gauge. Collecting tokens throughout the area will also fill your gauge, allowing you to enter Fighter Form, a third-person combat mode with new Tactical and Ultimate abilities, movement, and blocking capabilities.
Titled Apex KO, players will need to select one of four fighters before entering the match as either Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim and Akuma. If you don’t make a choice, one will be selected for you. When you enter Fighter Form, your abilities will be replaced with skills that suit each Street Fighter character. Some of these are listed below:
- Ryu: Shin Shoryuken, Dash, Hadouken.
- (You can lock onto targets to hit them with the hadouken but it won’t do exploding damage.)
- Chun-Li: Double-jump, Kikouken, Kikosho, and faster melee attack speed.
- Dhalsim: Increased melee range, Teleportation, Yoga sunburst.
- Akuma: Gohadouken, Shun Goku Satsu, Raging Demon, Demon Mode.
The final round is called the Showdown, where any downed or respawning players rejoin the fight to throw hands until one squad is left standing.
“At its core, Apex is built on competition,” Chris Ruvolo, senior technical game designer for Apex Legends, said in a statement. “Translating Street Fighter 6’s mechanics into a third-person Battle Royale experience was about finding those synergies in their shared competitive DNA. Balancing the four Fighter Gear kits was such a fun opportunity to give players highly expressive tools like Hadokens, wall-runs and Yoga Teleports without compromising Apex’s core gameplay and competitive integrity. The final Showdown round distills that drive into a high-stakes brawl where clutch execution decides who survives.”
