Is this the end of the GTA 6 leaks? Take-Two’s legal crusade appears to shut down the hubs behind them

Take-Two’s legal offensive against the source of the ongoing GTA 6 leaks appears to have claimed its first scalp: the CyberLeek website, one of the group’s main hubs, has gone offline.

The group’s Telegram channel has also gone dark, now displaying only the message “This channel is unavailable due to copyright infringement”.

The disappearance comes just days after Take-Two filed subpoenas targeting Microsoft and Discord, seeking information that could identify whoever is behind the CyberLeek persona. Both companies have until 4th September to hand over relevant account data.

The leaks – which have been popping up all week – have been substantive, showing co-protagonist Jason tearing around Vice City in a supercar and shooting the word “leek” into a wall, suggesting some kind of playable access to GTA 6.

As Bertie summarised for us at the time, CyberLeek has maintained that it’s doing the leaks in the name of gamers’ rights, but behind it is a shady cryptocurrency scheme involving a $CYBERLEEK meme coin the group wants people to buy (and thereby increase the value of) to vote for new video leaks. Ostensibly, this is being done to fund “a secret project”, but as Polygon reported, there’s evidence to suggest dodgy-seeming personal gain.

There’s been a lot of confusion around the Telegram channel, with some Redditors insisting CyberLeek never operated one in the first place and that any Telegram activity attributed to the account was the work of impersonators reposting genuine leaks.

Others maintain the Telegram and website were the only channels CyberLeek confirmed as legitimate. Either way, whichever of those hubs actually belonged to CyberLeek has been nuked along with the website.

It’s not clear whether the takedown is directly linked to Take-Two’s subpoenas or a separate copyright enforcement action, and Eurogamer has asked Rockstar for comment.

Whether this actually marks the end of the leaks, or just a pause while whoever’s behind them regroups elsewhere, remains to be seen.

Take-Two Boss Strauss Zelnick has said he isn’t concerned that the company’s legal battle could impact Grand Theft Auto 6 sales. The game was made available to pre-order late last month, and immediately became a top seller on the PlayStation Store around the world.

GTA 6 is still slated to release on 19th November 2026, launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
